You should be able to find the original birth record

You wont find the adopted name on any records online ,but you could try Search Members trees on here which is under the Search Heading above the threads to see if the birth name is on anyones tree then send them a message using the find out more box

If you mean on the boards

Their birth name
Date of birth - if the person hadn't been adopted, this would have been discouraged
Place of birth
If their mother is deceased, or agrees, her name at the time of the child's birth.

Basic facts - not the background. The intention is that if the person were to look for birth family, you'd have provided enough info for the post to be picked up on an internet search. This has happened over the Christmas period with a cousin seeking an adopted cousin

Do NOT leave personal contact details.
If the relative should stumble upon your thread they can send you a personal message by clicking on your name. For that reason, if you should change your regular email address register it against your GR account. Even if you no longer subscribe to the site, you can then still receive messages.
