No one will be able to help you Thomas if you don't give your dad's name and approximate year of birth.

Hi Thomas

Do you mean you actually want to find your Dad, or did you mean his service records?

A name and dates would help!!

From http://archive.iwm.org.uk/upload/pdf/ArmyServiceRecords.pdf
(Imperial War Museum)

First World War records for soldiers
who served with the Guards Regiments
can be applied for from the relevant
regimental headquarters. All records still
held by the Ministry of Defence.
They will only be released to proven next of
kin and a £25 fee will be payable. The address to write to is

Regimental Headquarters
Grenadier Guards/Coldstream Guards/
Scots Guards/Irish Guards/Welsh Guards
Wellington Barracks
Birdcage Walk
London
SW1E 6HQ
.............

They'd probably also have the service records for men in the Forces after 1922.
We might be able to find something on line for WW1 up to 1920
Not too sure how long ago that information was posted. Other service records cost £30.

Kinship forms can be found on the relative links here

You will need to apply for them from Wellington Barracks and do check what supporting documentation you'll need.
As he died over 25 years ago at such a young age, there shouldn't be too much of a problem.

If he did serve in Egypt, he probably was with Montgomery......but possibly at a great distance :-D

You may need his exact DOB - bearing in mind his death was registered in Pontypridd, this is probably the reg of his birth

Name: Albert L Hadley
Mother's Maiden Surname: Leach
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1916
Registration district: Pontypridd
Inferred County: Glamorganshire
Volume Number: 11a
Page Number: 1095

Order from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ at a cost of £9..25

You say Welsh Guards and then Welsh regiment. For Welsh Guards, records would be at Wellington Barracks but Welsh Regiment records would be with the MOD
