But note that they do not control the content of any records that they carry.

I have no idea what you mean by updating a census because you want to know addresses .......

....... the last census to be released was the 1911, the 1921 will not be released for digitisation by the Government until 1921, and it will possibly/probably be 1922 before we see those records.

But it also sounds as if you mean the Electoral Roll ...... which again is not under GR's control


Have you tried googling telephone numbers?

GR staff no longer look at this board so there is no point in posting or waiting for a response, only a couple of members keep an eye on here so we can direct posters to use that email address.

Please get rid of the report button. It is being abused.

On my request you reinstated one of my posts last month. Should all of those who fall victim do this?

It seems posts/threads are being removed just to save time for whoever deals with reports. I believe malicious reports are made simply to upset other members.

Please do not remove reported threads until you read the contents properly. Just because one person does not like the content and reports does not mean that the whole thread should be lost to others who are discussing and giving their opinion about the subject. Surely you must have record of who is doing the reporting all the time and if it is the same person they should be reprimanded.
This nonsense is putting people off using your site which is a shame as a lot of elderly and housebound as well as other members enjoy a chatter and a debate.

The only people who look are one or two members, and we cannot help you.

As it is, the suggestion you made has been made many times before, and has never been acted upon.

some of us will tell you that we never actually log off

others will tell you to be patient ....... people have received replies as many as 8 years after sending it.


Whatever .................. there is no point in posting on this General Suggestions thread, or even on this Suggestions Board.

Extremely frustrating trying to contact someone and not getting a response! May I suggest you have a "date last logged on" linked to that person. This way we would have some indication if the member is still active on GR (other sites have this feature). Thanks

Good idea, Lisa - but doubt very much that the thread is being monitored by anyone any more.

It's over a year since the last reply from the then Community Manager, on this thread - and no action has been taken on any of our suggestions, on this thread or any other.

Not sure if this thread is being monitored by GR but I would like the search feature be accessible like a data base. It would be useful to be able to search for Person X living with Person Y (a bit like the 1939 register on findmypast).

It would be very useful if GR added this on the FAQ page too

However my idea is that they should have an established subscription price list as us Older members - In terms of length of time served on the boards & the system - been a member here since May 2003 - (not age) seem to all be paying varying amounts for our new subscriptions anything from £6.50 to £9.00 in very strange amounts of pence

I was emailed one amount - went to change my card in the system & was charged a different amount slightly higher than the quote - do you get a refund or could I get an extra 6-9 months added to my membership term?

Hello, Shelley -

I stopped using Quick Search a considerable time ago, because, as KenSe says, the results are not in any order.

If they were at least in chronological order, it would be helpful - with the most recent showing first in the list.

Advanced Search shows results in chronological order, so why not Quick Search?

So that's two suggestions now:
1. Add an "All boards" search option to Advanced Search.
2. Show Quick Search results in chronological order.
