Oh dear, I feel like a novice all over again :-( :-(
Just having a quick coffee break from painting and decided to check something in my tree quickly (as you do when you see new records added to websites), and today I can't find anything in my tree quickly - I was cursing at the laptop.
Hope I can soon get used to it or my slow progress will be slowed even more - might even grind to a halt!!

I think they are working on it today Lyndi so there may well be disruption. See announcements.

Yes they are I can't access my full tree right now just immediate family.
Hopefully when they've finished all this updating it will be a better site.

I tried to access information on my tree, the virus checker and pop up stopper are preventing the information from being accessed unless I press shift key.

I told the puter to accept all from GR but it still will only show if I press shift. :-S

Am I the only one NOT liking this new tree design?

I emailed GR with my opinion when they asked for feedback during the trial but evidently more people must have liked it as they've gone through with it!

Personally I preferred being able to see the tree, the profile and the picture at the same time. :-(

Thank you for your replies. I will give it a chance and I may find it faster once I know my way around.

I was trying to get to an ancestor by clicking back through their line, but as I clicked on each one it would say loading details and what used to be a few quick clicks to get back 5 or 6 generations seemed to take ages.

I haven't yet had time to explore the positives which I am sure are there :-)

I much prefer the photos on the front ,now you have to look forit not quite the same as seeing it straight away,

Wish we had the option of using the old tree as we are members from the early days & have got so used to the old format.

You are not the only one not liking the new tree, I hate it. I much prefered the old format with the photo's on the front. I agree Michael, we should have an option of using the old tree.

very disgruntled

Why does everything have to be altered all the time, it is very confusing for us ancient beings,I hope the old tree will be still availiable,at the moment I feel like giving up altogether, Please don't keep changing everything, doing my tree has good exercise for my 80plus brain, now what I ask myself ???

Hello again

I have just tried navigating around my tree and it is a nightmare the sliders at the side and bottom of the old design tree were superior in every way to the jerky and confusingset up now, I have no idea where I am.

Yet another case of change for changes sake I'm afraid.

All programmers should have this message tattooed on the inside of their eyelids: IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT

The Luddites did have some good points.

Hi
Just tried out the new format, so confusing & slow. Ive experienced not being able to view my attached cencus's even tried reattaching them but no different. Also whern trying to view ancester general info on the slide out page it is mostley coming up with the right name but wrong details.
Never had problems on the site before, the old format was so easy to use. I hope they get it sorted & running properly soon.

Don't like it at all and half the peoples details are missing, I won't be using it in future I will be sticking to my Generations program. Why change it for the sake of it?

Honest, it was only the once and I know who he was ;-)

Bryan

Bryan Report 19 Jan 2012 19:36

It's a disaster and riddled with faults. Adding new siblings sometimes results in them appearing in duplicate. Details of one sibling are automatically added to existing siblings, overwriting existing data. It's possible, by accident, to enter a parent as being younger than his/her child - and the system won't allow it to be deleted. Husband's data appears in the wife's section and vice versa.
All this was discovered during my first foray into the new Tree Builder. It obviously hasn't been properly and thoroughly tested. Any sensible organisation would have run both systems in parallel for a lengthy period in order to identify and iron out the inevitable glitches. Genes Reunited also failed to give adequate warning of the implementation date. Altogether entirely unsatisfactory. Has anyone had a response from Genes Reunited to complaints about this catalogue of faults? :-| :-| :-| :-| :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(
