Hi,

I've reached a bit of a dead end and wonder if anyone with a fresh pair of eyes could help me.

I'm trying to trace my GGGgrandmothers family. Her name was Rose Lloyd. She was born in c1890 (marriage cert.) in Scarborough, Yorks (1891 census).

She married Frederick Hamilton Constable in 1890 in Durham. I have this marriage certifcate which lists her fathers name as Frederick Lloyd and he is an actor.

However, I haven't been able to trace Rose's birth and I would dearly love to get her certificate to be able to trace her family back further.

Any help appreciated!

Oh, I've also tried to perhaps trace her father. But with just a name and a rough idea of a birth date it's a bit of a losing battle!!

when was she born? There is a mistake with her age.

This is the only Rose with father Frederick I can find on the 1881 but not in Yorkshire.

I can't find her on any other census. I think that Frederick (her husband) may have remarried by the 1901 census, so I think she possibly died before then. The only source I have for her place of birth is the 1891 census.

It could be wrong.

Was looking for Rose married to Frederick Constable and found him or someone with his name on the 1901 census with Ivy Constable (both married) but doesn't say wife (?sister and brother) - both actors. No Rose.

Thanks for the help.

I've found Frederick on the 1901 census before. I came to the conclusion that either Rose died and he remarried, she changed her name or she is elsewhere and this is another family member.

I've pretty much ruled out the latter, as I don't have an Ivy in the family to fit with those details (but you never know!).

But even looking for a Rose Lloyd's birth with 'Ivy's' details I came up blank.

I have just noticed that on the 1911 census Frederick has written under years completed in marriage - 11. Which means he was married in 1900ish. So presumably that means that Ivy is a second wife.

Can,t see a 2nd marriage for frederick, But there is this possible death for rose.

I've just looked at the witnesses on their cert and realised that it's the couple that they were boarding with on the 1891 census. So that's a dea end!! But good thinking!
