Find Ancestors

Hi,

Not really got any further with Marcia, because I been pursuing other branches of my family tree. However, I did do a searc on ancestry.co.uk at the weekend and found a record dated 1945 for a Marcia C Poole and mother Enid M Poole. They were on ship the SS Florida bound for New Orleans (they were in transit). The ship set sail on the 13/1/1945 and states Marcia as being 4 years and 2 months old, which would tie in to birth date being 10/11/1940. According to this she is West Indian born Kingston, Jamaica.
Is this too much of a coincidence for not to be the Marcia I am searching for above, and if so how easy is it to check Jamaican records?

there wont be any problem getting the 1958 birth for Ronald as its over the 50 years

Well I found a Clifton V Croome death 1955 Nottingham aged 58, Beatrice Emily remarried 1966 to a Leonard F Hunt Southwell, its funny but I ask for a remarriage but it never came up so just put in croome 1965 10 years either side and up it came. I've noticed this happens some times. I will check again to see if she had any children.

Thanks for that. The information I had on Beatrice Emily was slightly different from what had, the solicitors said William's daughter Emily (it was common for mother's side of the family to use the middle) was called Hunt, so I assumed she married someone called but Hunt but admittedly I found this.

they did say Dorothy Ivy become Dorothy Dalton of Preston

Never got birth certificates for living people, don't you need exta infromation for certificates less than 50 years old?

I decided to look at the sisters and see where that will lead, Beatrice emily married a clifton V Croome 1927 in Worksop can't find any children, Dorothy Ivy married Charles S Dalton 3 possible children

Dorothy Ivy Dalton died April 2001 West Lancashire aged 91 born 27.1.1910

Suggest you get the birth cert for one of Marcias children this will give the parents names,
As the 1st child was born in 1958 Marcia would have been c 18 years old.
Marcia' death cert of 1998 will show her place of birth as known by the informant

Cant see any marriage on Scotlands People OR a birth for Marcia on there either

Its just a though, would they have been born aboard or Scotland as it was the war. I have had a look and found her full name Marcia Carol N Trotman in the burials, so I looked for Marcia C born 1940 with 2 years round (nothing under Carol) and could not find anything with an N following.

William's parent's were William Poole born (1883-1926) borm Ikeston derbyshire. Living in Whitwell 1911 having married Ethel Chambers in 1908.
According to letter from the solicitors had three children Emily, Dorothy and William
Corresponds to births in the Worksop area Beatrice Emily (1909), Dorothy Ivy (1910) and William C (1920). According to letter William Jnr died September 1993/1994

Thanks for the help.

I am working from an old solitcitor's from America in 1990's when they were tracing relations for a distant American relation. It states that Marcia Trotman had children Dorothy, Dawn, Lesley, Graham, Robert, Angela and Ronald. I did a check on findmypast for births and these between 1958 and 1969 show Trotman as father and Poole as mother.

So does mean that Marcia's parents never married and unless I get her deathe certificate I won't know the maiden name?

Suggest you start by verifying the details for William, which seem sketchy, at best.

No birth on Ancestry for a Marcia C N

Perhaps she was born outside of England/Wales..........
