Find Ancestors

Born, possibly Great Stainton, Durham abt 1690, Ralph married Rebecca Auderson/Alderson, in Bishopton, on 10/08/1716.
On the 9th Oct 1716 he was "Of Elstob" (whatever that means .. or wherever that is?)
On the 10th April 1718 he was "Of Oakcliff" commonly thought to be the old fashioned name for Aycliffe, County Durham.
In 1723 he is recorded as having been in Aycliffe.
Ralph and Rebecca had six known children; Elizabeth, William, Jane, Thomas, Ralph,and Ann.
Ralph died on the 14th or 15th of August 1758 and he was buried on 17/08/1758 at St Peter's, Bishopton, County Durham.
Rebecca died eight days after the funeral.
He is rumoured to have signed a will but this has not yet come to light. ... It is not in Durham University Library!!
I would like to find where, and exactly when, Ralph was born ... and the identity of his parents?? ... but so far it has been like bashing my head against that proverbial BRICK WALL!!
ANY IDEAS ... SUGGESTIONS ... OR INFORMATION would be wonderful!!

just noticed - there are an awful lot of Ralph Musgraves in Durham - all on the Mormon LDS site!!!!

I had decided to go to bed but thought I would have a quick peep before I went.
Yes there are a good few Ralph Musgraves. After Ralph and Rebecca, we have their son Ralph and Ann Spark, then their son Ralph and Barbara Smith, followed by Ralph and Elizabeth Carr. They are all quite well documented, with wills and other useful information: so it is something of a shock to find NOT a THING about the father of Ralph of 'Ralph and Rebecca"!!
The West Hartlepool 'lot' are related but they are somewhat peripheral to my line of descent. .. So for the moment, whilst I have notes on file about them; I have left them out of my tree.
It is 3:20am, here in Spain now, so that is me for tonight!! Thanks for input so far.

Yes that's them but as you can see there is no DOB for Ralph and believe me Great Stainton is a bit 'iffy' too: ... I don't think anyone has actually found an entry in the Parish Registers there? If they had they would have found a baptism date .... and we would know who his father was!! As it is we have neither!
I don't think the Great Stainton Registers, for around that time, (late 1600s), are available online?
I must go to bed. Perhaps we can talk more tomorrow?

I forgot to mention that a Ralph Musgrave was a beneficiary in the will of one William Musgrave in 1719. ... He was however, only left one shilling, whilst two others, named as 'daughter' and 'son', were left several pounds: so whilst William was a relative; could have been an uncle, ... I don't THINK he was Ralph's father.
There is no hint as to where William originated from, in the will.

Hello Carole, just found your messages by chance, dont know if we have been in touch before now. Ralph Musgrave of 1690 would have been my 7th great grandather (yes im linked through the hartlepool lot0, and as I syill liv ethere I have had a chance to browse the great stainton and othe rpossible registers without any success. have you had any more joy since your messages, you mentione a william musgrave leaving a will that mentioned ralph...have you got more details of this as this is a new one for me
