thanks for your reply, yes I do recall now our previous messgaes, ive just started looking back over the musgrave, (sometimes wished I didnt). What confuses me is that nobody seems to be able to locate the birth/bap of ralph musgrave c1690 and/or be able to prove whom his father is, 9unless im missing something very obvious), next time I am at durham uni Ill look out william musgraves will, and now you have reminded me ill alos look for robert and marys's burial

I think we may have communicated quite regularly?
I believe I last wrote to you on 01/03/2009 regarding Ralph Musgrave and his probable siblings?
If this is so I passed on a snippet of information about Robert and Mary Musgrave and their possible burial at St Michael, Heighington. I hoped the parish records there might reveal more details than the NBI. Their burials were 1745 and 1767. Did you ever manage to check them out?
As for the will of William Musgrave. I have not found it myself but I know details of it. It is to be found at Durham University library. It was written on 17th Dec 1719, just a few days before the date I have for William's death.
It was witnessed and signed by Matthew Musgrave and Ralfe put a cross over his name. Presumably he couldn't write? This is probably the will referred to when one sees written about Ralph, "he signed a will but none has been found" yes .. he did SIGN a will, but not HIS OWN will.

Hello Carole, just found your messages by chance, dont know if we have been in touch before now. Ralph Musgrave of 1690 would have been my 7th great grandather (yes im linked through the hartlepool lot0, and as I syill liv ethere I have had a chance to browse the great stainton and othe rpossible registers without any success. have you had any more joy since your messages, you mentione a william musgrave leaving a will that mentioned ralph...have you got more details of this as this is a new one for me

I forgot to mention that a Ralph Musgrave was a beneficiary in the will of one William Musgrave in 1719. ... He was however, only left one shilling, whilst two others, named as 'daughter' and 'son', were left several pounds: so whilst William was a relative; could have been an uncle, ... I don't THINK he was Ralph's father.
There is no hint as to where William originated from, in the will.

Yes that's them but as you can see there is no DOB for Ralph and believe me Great Stainton is a bit 'iffy' too: ... I don't think anyone has actually found an entry in the Parish Registers there? If they had they would have found a baptism date .... and we would know who his father was!! As it is we have neither!
I don't think the Great Stainton Registers, for around that time, (late 1600s), are available online?
I must go to bed. Perhaps we can talk more tomorrow?

I had decided to go to bed but thought I would have a quick peep before I went.
Yes there are a good few Ralph Musgraves. After Ralph and Rebecca, we have their son Ralph and Ann Spark, then their son Ralph and Barbara Smith, followed by Ralph and Elizabeth Carr. They are all quite well documented, with wills and other useful information: so it is something of a shock to find NOT a THING about the father of Ralph of 'Ralph and Rebecca"!!
The West Hartlepool 'lot' are related but they are somewhat peripheral to my line of descent. .. So for the moment, whilst I have notes on file about them; I have left them out of my tree.
It is 3:20am, here in Spain now, so that is me for tonight!! Thanks for input so far.

I have searched all the accepted places that I can think of online. I am in Spain so I have to content myself with online research.
