I am trying to locate information on Isabella Ralph (my Paternal Grandmother) born 1906 and Olive Ralph her sister born 1917. I'm having a hard time figuring out who their parents were. Isabella married Ambrose Yates and they had 2 children, Ronnie Yates(my Dad) and June Yates. Olive married John Johnstone and they lived in Leam Lane, Gateshead. I believe they had a son, Ian. I seem to recall my Dad speaking of another sister of the Ralphs? Mae or May? Any help would be truly appreciated |

This 1881 seems to tie with the birthplace and year of George's wife per 1911: |

According to a tree on @ncestry the Elizabeth Ann from Broughton married a John Steele in 1910 (no record attached). |

Wow!!! You are all so helpful. Thank you!!! It would make it easier if I could run to a records office and get copies of their birth certificates. However, I moved to the US back in 92 so that is not an option. Once I feel I have found the right people I will most likely order copies of their birth certificates and hopefully that will fill in some of the gaps. This is what I know for sure. |

Hi Alison - you can easily get copies of the certificates online from the General Register Office (GRO) - http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ |

Thanks again for your help. I ordered birth certificates this morning so I will be anxiously awaiting those. I also remembered something last night. Ian Johnstone I believe would be the Grandson of Olive not the son. I believe Douglas Johnstone was the son of Olive. Ian would have been born around 1963 (ish). Hopefully someone who knows him or knows of him will read this. :) |

Very excited. Finally received my long awaited birth certificates and marriage certificates from the UK. I think I have figured out some of it. George Ralph Married Elizabeth Ann Bell together they had Isabella, Dinah and Albert. Not sure what happened to Elizabeth, whether a death or a divorce took place. But George Ralph went onto marry Sarah Irving and together they had Olive, Gilbert and George. So my great "Aunt Olive" was actually my Grandmothers half sister, they had the same father but different mothers. I had no idea!!! It's really nice to have documents to compare and match up addresses and dates, it's very exciting and very rewarding. Still haven't figured out how 'May" was connected in all of this. Growing up I thought she was the sister of my grandmother but apparently not. Oh well I will keep on working on that one. Thanks to you all who tried to help. |

Hi Alison, so pleased you've tied up some loose ends. So - the Elizabeth Ann Irving we found was a complete red herring! - What a good job you got the certificates. |

Do you have any more details regarding Sarah Irving? I don't see a marriage for her or a death for Elizabeth which is odd. |
