Tattersalls was, and still is, famous bloodstock auctioneers....

Tattersalls was founded in 1766 after Richard Tattersall, a farmer who bred horses to race against those of his friends and fellow breeders, decided it would be a good idea to sell them as well.

The original sales conducted on his farm in Ely, Cambridgeshire, were so successful that he established the business at Hyde Park Corner in London. The site became a meeting place for sporting and betting men, and hosted sales for the Duke of Kingston’s stud in 1774 and the stud of the Prince of Wales (later George IV) in 1786.

In 1865, when the 99-year lease on the Hyde Park location expired, the business moved to Knightsbridge, opposite Harrods, and in 1965 it introduced bloodstock auctions at Park Paddocks, Newmarket, where Tattersalls is now based.

The company has long had an interest in Ireland.

Interesting history for this Tattersall family can be found at....

Have you got Charles's age on marriage ?

Mike *

Mike * Report 14 May 2010 19:12

So you KNEW she married Charles Gladden then ???

What other information have you already got?

Christine

Christine Report 14 May 2010 19:06

I believe her fathers name was not on the certifate as she was dissoned when she married charles Gladden, Annie had a daughter called Annie and she took two of her children round to her grand mothers house and the door was shut in her face by the lady of the house.

Mike * Report 14 May 2010 19:00

You would need to cross check her age and father's name on both certificates to see if it's the correct marriage
