Did her husband die in the war as a serving member of the armed forces or just died during the time period of WWII? |

As I cannot find a Henry John Constable death on the commonwealth war graves site or a likely John Constable either. |

Hi Alexandra, me thinks he wasn't killed in action, I don't think he was in the armed forces as he was too old. |

Derek - which wartime period did he die in? Might narrow things down a bit! |

Just realised I made a mistake with Ellen's death - it should be Apr Q not Jan! |

If he did die during WWI - the one Gail found could be right - bearing in mind that the age at death would have been given by the informant and sometimes it isn't always totally right. |

Well that was the only death in Croydon for a John H Constable or a John Constable in the war years 1939-1945 |

Of course it is entirely possible the 1943 age at death is wrong - due to the informant giving the wrong age, or maybe even a mistake by the registrar or the entry in the index. But those are the only two. |
