Hi Margaret I guess youre right.The only one I can find on 1881 was born Sedgley ,staffs.Im under the understanding,that those counties have been mixed up and moved about through the ages.Thanks very much to everybody who responded to my thread,and will definately order marriage cert,to be certain of keeping on right track.Thanks again all .Kay

Kay, I think you're going to have to buy Richard's marriage certificate to get his father's name so that we can find him on earlier censuses.

It's difficult to find him in earlier censuses because in 1901 he says born 1868 Wall, Shropshire and if that's him that Nicola found in 1891 it says born 1865, Wolverhampton.

After looking again at the 1891 census, I believe Ann Jackson was a widow. It looks like Md. but for the others it's just M for married and I think hers is Wid.

Richard Biggs married Ann Jackson, 1894, Ch. Stretton.
On the 91 census there's an Ann Jackson in Church Stretton with daughters Annie 5 and Fanny E. 2. Says she's married but no husband there. However she has a sister living with her who's single and surname is Carter, so Ann must have been a Carter married to a Jackson.

I am wondering Richard is Ann's second husband. On the 1891 he is down as single but there is quite a gap on the 1901 for his children - 8 years - between William & Ernest.

Do you know when Ann & Richard married?
