According to the death index William was aged 72 so would have been born around 1882.

Any idea where he was born or spouses name?

Sorry to be so vague, the only other thing I know was that in 1927 he was living at 8 Wellington Street, Milnrow and had a son called Clifford who was about 20/21. Thats all I have.

I have his death cert, but the informant is not a relation. He died at Penmoor, Chatburn Rd, Clitheroe. ,presumably a nursing home.

you need to look for Cliffords birth this will give his mums name .then you can look for a marriage

There were 3 Clifford Ashworths born between 1905-1907in Rochdale: 1905,1907 & 1908. Rochdale is registration area for Milnrow

Clifford was born 16/09/1905, but his mums name is not in evidence on the cert.

Cant understand tho that Cliffords birth cert doesnt show his mums name .have you got the FULL cert or a shortened version. The Dec 1905 reg will be him covers births reg from 1st Oct to end Dec.You have six weeks to register a birth so likely he was reg in Oct

It looks like Clifford had 2 sisters - Hilda & Evelyn
& 2 brothers possibly Frank & Wilf.

there's loads of Hilda Ashworths listed reg Rochdale from 1900 will try for the other siblings

There only appears to be one Evelyn registered between 1905-1915 and she was born in 1915 mmn is Jinks. The only 'Jinks' I can find married Edmund Ashworth.
