Are you saying that they were married by the 1890's ?

Do you have any idea if any of the children were born before 1901?

Where have you got your information from?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 28 Jun 2008 12:06

Sonny and Carrie are probably diminutives........any idea of the actual names?

Born when?

Born where?

Have you worked backwards.......checking every stage.......to arrive at these names?

Many thanks to you all for your help,
All the children were born after 1901 (Christopher I do know was born 03-12-1926) I have guessed Thomas and Elsies year of birth at 1890.
as you say Sonny was actually Thomas and Carrie was Caroline, There was another e
Elsie who was the twin of Christopher (therefore born 03-12-1926) who died aged 3

thankyou all once again for your help

Regards

Matt

Matt,

Your request was not very clear.

I read it originally as the couple might have been married by the 1890's and not that was their approx years of birth.

Have you got any of the birth certs?

No idea how we can find an Elsie born 1890 ish without knowing a surname or the name and occupation of the father.

If one child was born 1926 then she could have been born after 1901

Why did you not include that information in your original request?

Reggie/ Maureen;

Thankyou for your help, as you have probably gathered I am new to this and quickly realising the complexity and fascination of it.
Iam now in possession of some marriage certs.
Thomas Riley married Elsie Hudson on 20-02-1915, His father Henry Riley is shown as deceased. Elsies father Alfred married a Caroline Hickson on 2-6-1873, His father was a John Hudson, and Caroline's father - Walter Hickson, all of Leeds, The journey continues,

many thanks

Mathew...

If you have the marriage certs, can you please post their ages.....

You have already been told we cannot help you further without knowing this data...

....all we can do is guess, which isn't the right way to do things...!!

Elsie Hudson born 1891(believed to have died in Highroyds asylum,Nr Wakefield, year unknown)

Alfred Hudson (father of Elsie) Bn 1852
and Caroline Hickson, Wife of Alfred, Bn 1853

Have you thought of looking for some of these people yourself on the 1881 census? It is completely free at www.familysearch.org

And finding them yourself is so much more rewarding..................

Melanie;
This is very interesting, If I am understanding it Walter Hickson was married to Elizabeth and had caroline, then by the 1861 census he appears to have left Elizabeth for his neighbour, another Elizabeth, but 20 years his junior, and took caroline with him, and from what you have found out Caroline may have took on the surname of her fathers new partner, but who claims to be his housekeeper !!!!!
This is fascinating, and I am very gratefull to you.
