I couldn't find a birth for him on FreeBMD in Wiltshire. The only one I could find on familysearch is as follows:

John Walters
Christening: 05 APR 1889 Ham, Wiltshire, England

Father: William Walters
Mother: Emma

Can you post the 1901 info please?

Selena in South East London Report 1 Aug 2008 20:50

For info he was John R Walters on his marrige in 1924.

So was he married twice?

Was he a widower on his marriage to Charlotte in 1924?

Can anyone find him on the 1891 or his father etc?

Selena

Margaret

Margaret Report 1 Aug 2008 20:51

Okay so the birth I found for you on the IGI in 1889 is that correct or not?

Who is his father on his marriage certificate to Charlotte in 1924?

Births Mar 1891
WALTER John Highworth 5a 37

The district Highworth is in the county of Wiltshire

Note it is Walter no S.

So I am really confused, first you say his dad is Fred (1901) , then you say it is Walter (1891) and now you say his dad is John!

Maybe I have misunderstood.

Do you think I have given the correct birth above in Highworth?

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 1 Aug 2008 21:11

Highworth registration district was succeeded by Swindon so the birth in Highworth seems to be right for the family with Fred and Ellen as parents.

However, I too am confused by who John's father is supposed to be.

Are yo certain that the person marrying in 1924 to Charlotte was your father-in-law?

Margaret Report 1 Aug 2008 21:14

really sorry to confuse you all i know is he was born 1891 don,t know where he was in the army for years and was walter there later added the s he was married to Charlotte Browning BUT carlotte was Mitchell on marriage cert widow marriage took place in Dover 1924 then he left her and lived with my husbands mother and they had 2 children my husband and his sister i was begining to think he was an ALIEN

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 1 Aug 2008 21:18

How do you kno he was born in 1891 if you have't found his birth reference?

If you are sure he married Charlotte in 1924 then you are looking for a John R, Walter or Walters.

Kath. x

Margaret

Margaret Report 1 Aug 2008 21:20
