Find Ancestors

Hi all,

Is there a list or website that shows people/families moving to the UK from Ireland, I’m looking for someone who moved here around or before 1850. Find my past does a list of people leaving the UK but not arriving!

Any help much appreciated

thanks for your replies, I'm looking for a Patrick Higgins born around 1828c, was married to a Mary Manon? (it's difficult to read the name on one of their childrens birth certs), can't find any marrage to that name, I have found them in the 1861 census living at 6 Chapel Fold, Halifax. Patrick is shown as being born in Ireland, Mary is shown as being born in Halifax yorkshire around 1830c , although in the 1901 census she is shown as born in Ireland, they have 5 children in 1861 all being shown as born in Halifax. the oldest is also a Mary aged 8 (certificate on order) so they must have moved here some time up to 1852. I have found a Mary and Patrick Higgins in the 1851 census, but not sure if it's them as Mary's age does not match up.
I was hoping that people moving here would be on some sort of list! of course that would be far to easy!!!

The Patrick Higgins I found was living at 1 Northside of Stockdale Street, Liverpool (Howard Street district), age 22 and shown as an EMIGRANT, the Mary I was looking at was on the same sheet aged 26, but just realised that she's at a different address, but both are shown as visitors, so it's possible!.

I hate all these grey areas!!!!!!!

That’s interesting, but she is not shown as Maria in any in the census or the birth certificate that I have (although have 3 more on order), but I can't find a Maria married to a Patrick in the 1851 census! (just searched quickly)
So that could be a possibility, will have to look into that one.

I'm trying to find any info on Nathaniel O'Donnell born Ireland 1816 also his son Nathaniel born Ireland 1837. They moved to Selby Yorkshire approx 1850's Sorry have no idea where in Ireland they were born. Hope you can help.

Hi Barry, just wondering if Patricks wifes maiden name mightbe Mahon,as it is a fairly common Irish name.

Hazel: one post per topic (and one board only). All you need to do if you want to try again is find the thread (click on "My threads" on the left side) and add a post to it, which will bring it back to the top.



Just wanted to note -- this thread is a fine example of what a mess it makes when people go around deleting their posts in threads. The entire thread makes no sense, and will never be any use to anyone else who might read it in later months or years.

Why oh why oh why to people feel this compulsion to delete totally harmless posts from the boards??

Hazel and Lily with a thread this old it is unlikely that Barry would look back it it... if you click on his name you can send a message , if he is still on GR that is.

Digging up old threads is hardly ever productive.

There's a lot of it happening today............

I don't think I'll bother.
I'm still pretty new at researching my family tree. and finding my way round the different sites and so called threads, but when you get replies like I did, it stops you asking for any help at all. I'll do it on my own.
