Hi Rose

That's an offer I can't refuse! Could you look at this man for me please? [my great grandfather]

Frederick Charles Gates born abt 1885 probably in the NewForest/Lymington area although this is not certain.

Father Edward Gould

I only know his father's name [from his marriage to my grt grandmother Mary Jane Hendey]

I am particularly interested in trying to trace the Gould connection and the name of Frederick's mother.

May thanks in advance

Samantha

Sorry for Butting in Rose but please let me know if you agree.

You have got the right certificate.

The reason being is that the census for your guys state that the Mother was born in Creeksea - as was the case back in those days they tended to marry in the area that the woman was from....Maldon is the area that Creeksea is registered in.

Rose - I have already had this request up but only had a reply from one person who did really try to help but got no further than I did, so am wondering, would you like to have a go.

I have Sydney Goff born b. 1877, the son of Robert Goff and wife Hannah Maria. I have them on 1891 census but cannot for the life of me find them on 1901 census. By 1901 Robert Goff was widowed and living with one of two married daughters. Sydney's youngerr brother died 1899 so that just leaves Sydney Goff. I trief the alternative spelling og Goff, tried Toff, Soff and then tried *off, but ancestry said there were too many possibilities. The family were London born and still lived there in Goswell Street in 1891. I would appreciate you having a go because I know Sydney was still alive then as he later married and had a family of his own. Thank you.
