Im not subscribed to it but im trying to find details of my ggrandads on there i know his death details are on there from the free view but im trying to find out where he was born and to clarify his date of birth if anyone can help i would be totally greatful

can't find an appropriate birth, may he have be born in scotland or ireland?

Unable to locate a birth in England so tried Scotland. Only Thomas Edward is this one:

This is what is anoying me some relatives have told me he was born in Edinburgh but there is no trace of him and the Scottish details of Thomas Edward Mclellan you have there the year does not match up i know the death details are right my mum remembers him dyeing with all those details i provided but that is the main family i want to research and im completely stuck and i cant seem to get any wear its so confusing.

I still have to get the certificate but his occupation is General Labourer i didn't think a death certificate has a father's name on

Sorry, I should of made myself clear. I meant the marriage certificate - if we could find his parents then one could work from there. The marriage certificate will give his fathers name and occupation and sometimes the witnesses can be useful.

Can i still get a marriage certificate if only details i have are Sept 1929 In Colchester and there names? sorry i have only been doing this seiously for a little while

Yes, you have their names, married in Jul-Aug-Sept qtr of 1929, Colchester, volume 4a page 2404.
that is all the required info for ordering the certificate.

note that he is NOT using the name Edward on his marriage details so do not use it when ordering the certificate - use only Thomas McLellan.

Best just to put one name though. If something isn't exactly correct they won't send the cert. Keep the information supplied just down to the bare minimum.
