I did visit Chislet Church a couple of years ago to look at known gravestones of 6 of my Sturges ancestors who are buried there. I was lucky to find the info on the net whith exact posisions of the graves.

Stephen Daniels is living in a Cottage at Hawthorn Corner, Chislet in 1901. Also Highstead before that.

Yes please look out for any possible info on my Daniels if you come across them on the pub walls. Thanks. I also have Sturges family from Chislet and Highstead etc. Please keep a look out for them also.

Yes it could be a possibility the more i think about it Jill. Your GG Grandma is proof of that.

In this instance it means Mary was born 25/26 years after the marriage.

Hi Paul.

Blean district is likely to cover Chislet etc. Bridge is the other side of Canterbury from here so not sure ... but it will be worth a look-see.

I will have to take a few photos for you. I don't think the pub has changed that much over the years! The pub has lots of old photos inside on the walls so I will keep an eye out for any Daniels for you!

I think a child born 20 odd years after a marriage is a distinct possibility Paul. My gr gr grandma was born 1800c, married in 1815 and had her last child in 1842. Took me a while to confirm that as at first I didn't believe it either, but marrying at about 15 years of age presumably helped!

Hello Gill

You drink in the pub at Marshside. Wow !

My 2x G Grandmother Louisa Daniels (daughter of Stephen & Mary) was born in Marshside !

Thanks for the offer of looking at the local churchyard.

Stephen Daniels died 1902 1st Q, Blean District.
Mary Ann Daniels nee Richardson died 1st Q 1889, Bridge District.

Thanks for continuing the lookup for me Rose.

I shall keep a note of that John Richardson you found in Canterbury. That John could easily be the John who married Mary Pain 10 MAY 1796 Saint Paul, Canterbury (IGI). It seems a stretch to think my Mary was a daughter of theirs seeing as she was born 1821/22. You never know though ?

That John & Mary appear to be the parents of a John Richardson baptised 10 NOV 1799 Saint Paul, Canterbury (IGI).

Yes hopefully someone in the future may come up with the answer.

I quite often go and have a drink at the Gate at Marshside which is very close to both Chislet and Hoath - like the third point of a rough triangle.

Do you know if your Stephen and Mary both died in Chislet? I'm wondering whether a visit to the local churchyard might be of use? (You may have to wait for a sunny Saturday as I work full time) but let me know if you have any info on their deaths.

have looked at the pages of census previous and next to the witnesses in the hope that the families lived near but no luck I am afraid (what a shame you weren't looking for the Jezzards though, they are so easy to spot!)

Hope someone will come up with a god idea for you Paul

Thanks for the 1841 census info for John Jezzard. I shall keep a note of it.

I guess John & Mary Richardson won't be on the censuses if they both died fairly young.

As you say this could be a tricky one.

I hope that baptism in Canterbury for Mary Ann Richardson is the correct one.

closest to other name is

Name: Gabriel Chenn
Birth: abt 1779 - Kent, England
Residence: 1841 - St John Baptist, St John The Baptist Margate, Kent, England

will look at prev and next pages just on off chance it could pinpoint Mary's parents...

Thanks for your interest.

Seeing as they married before the census, it's going to be tricky.

Who were the witnesses?

Paul Report 24 Mar 2009 22:58

Hello

My 3x Great Grandparents were Stephen Daniels and Mary Ann Richardson. They married in Margate , Kent 1841 and are living in Chislet, Kent throughout the censuses. Mary's father is given as John Richardson (Labourer) on the marriage cert.

Mary says she is born in Canterbury 1822 on the censuses. The Igi has Mary Anne Richardson baptised 25 Dec 1821 St Andrew, Canterbury - parents John & Mary.

Could someone try and find her parents John & Mary on the censuses please.

Thank you in advance
Paul

P.S.
I know that the John and Mary Richardson living in Hoath, Kent are not my Mary's parents.
