Find Ancestors

Hi Ann ,
I am just going though all censors ,I think but not sure if our John Gribble was born in Crediton in 1828 as when George was born abt 1855 to John Gribble and Phoebe Drake ,the only link where they both were Iiving for both their names is st Pancras London .I cannot find a marriage for them so just trying to do a bit of detective work to find the right ones,George Gribble is my G/grandad married in scotland in 1875 ,his daughter Margaret Gribble (grandma)moved to Grimsby in 1903 so lot of Gribble blood there too,so when I found a tree with grandmas sister on also called Phoebe I was hoping they would have a link to where they originated from,let you know how I get on.

I have found a couple of trees with our Phoebe Gribble born abt 1890 married to Joseph Mclaren both the trees are linked on the mclaren side ,but they have a daughter Josephine Mcclaren born to Joseph and phoebe born about 1915 ,can anyone find out for me please the whereabouts of Josephine as none of the others know either ,although the one tree had put Phoebe Gribble down as Jenkins as well ,so maybe she married once before she married Joseph,hope I have not confused you all,regards Sandra

My cousin sent the photo to me now and on the back the 19 rockingham rd is correct and it says fair cotton northampton how would I trace to see if any of my family lived there possibly in the 40s

lol yes been trying to find out about Ebenezer and where he ended up,it is good I found cousin mary we are now tring to find where Madge fits in,and if the address on the back of the photo gives us any leads Ann.

Hi ,I have just found a long lost cousin and she thinks we had a great aunt madge she has found an old photo with some scribble on the back and this address 19 Rockingham Rd Far or Fair Cottes Northampton as 22 County ch and 37 something which is totally undecipherable plus the capital letter TBE 47 1936-1942 this could be connected to us? as I know we had an uncle who moved to the area in kettering .Is there anyone who can anyone put names to the address in this period for us please,also she thinks the name McConecky rings a bell as well.many thanks sandra

Thank you for replies I have all the Bruce and Watt line in my family tree,Elizabeth Watt married to george gribble was my g/grandmother ,I have all her children on my tree and she had a daughter Pheobe ,so wonder if this is where pheobe Drake comes in I have looked on lots of trees with Gribble name and wrote to quite a few to see if we have a link ,had one reply of a family with Pheobe Gribble and got access to their tree,looks like it is same pheobe as us though as born 1890 same date as ours and born same place,she is linked married to one of their relations but they have no other Gribble either let you know what other replies I get,I am away now for 4 days over christmas,but I want to wish everyone out there who helps all of us in finding our ancestors A very happy christmas and new year .Kind regards Sandra

Going back to the 2 baptism records in Hackney found by Aileen the birth registrations are
William Gribble 1867 Mar Q Hackney 1b 456
James (not John) Gribble b 1868 Dec Q Hackney 1b 444 who died 1869 Mar Q Hackney 1b 321
These certs might throw some light on things if only to rule them out as your family

George's origins are proving difficult -I found a John Gribble in 1851 aged 25 Tailor born Camberwell living Barking Essex BUT he is with wife Ann 22 b East Ham and son Henry 1 b Barking
In 1861 Annie tho still married is without John and aged 31 b East Ham with Harry (Henry) 11 b Barking and Annie 7 b Barking and another daur styled SaraH Floyd 5 b Barking

Whether the same family or not (there are discrepancies)

Annie 48 wife b Chelsea
Elizabeth 17 general servant b Gravesend
1891 John 66 b Lambeth Tailor and Annie 45 b Westminster are alone

but cant find a George or a Phoebe
I wonder if she was married to someone else when George was born?

In 1901 George is 48 married and Master of the SS Abbotsford lying in Faversham Creek Kent -shows born London

there are baptism records for William (1867) and John (1868 ) Gribble parents John (Tailor) and Pheobe for Hackney London......good chance they are brothers to your George........

hi val,ddo you have any idea where abouts in england,I have looked on search trees and sent a couple of messages but had no reply,there seens to be a lot of Gribbles in devon,,but with having one married to pheobe Drake I thought I might be able to find out a bit more regards sandra
