How strange...
Definitely seems to be the right family,the births are in the right place etc.
Also,Eliza gives father's name as Simon.
(Incidentally,the church she married in,St Mary.Hornsey Rise is the same one my parents married in in 1947)
I have no doubt this is Thomas' family,but wonder if Simon had 2 wives at the same time.!!!!!!
The birth and marriage of William seem to fit nicely together.
The address he gives in 1881 is really near where I grew up!
This is a real mystery..Got to find more.

Possible,but will try to find more about her.
Also,if Simon had been married before,perhaps you were right that Hannah was not the mother of the older children.

Firstly...Barbara..that is a good idea.I was so concerned about Thomas' birth,I didn't think about looking for John,who as his middle name is Simon,id definitely the son of Simon,I would say.
Sylvia...Thomas lived in Kentish Town,Camden all his adut life,so very likely the baptism in Camden is him.
Maureen..thanks for John's marriage.Certainly could be my Thomas witnessing it.Oddly,though, John has given his father's name as John Simon,so wonder if he didn't understand the question or got it wrong.
Ozibird.....Thanks for deciphering the name...just looked at Freebmd,and there are a few Buzzels around all in the right area,so I think I can get more on them.
Also,Thomas' was a hansom cab driver.This would tie in with the' carman' job on the 1881.
His marriage cert claims father is William and deceased,no job given.Thomas is living in.(just realized something...his address is 25,Gospel Oak Grove....that is where the Hannah you found lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
So looks like Thomas didn't know his father's name.
I wonder iwhere George came from though,do you think possibly Hannah had a boyfriend or something named William ???
Simon died in 1872.
The Hannah you found in Chertsey looks good to.
