Morning Julie just missed you last night. Yes, James and Valentine were brothers, sons of Thomas and Mary (nee Crowhurst). There were 11 children altogether and many went on to produce a similar amount using the same names!! Grrr.
This is where the MCA records have been invaluable and it's fascinating to see the original entries.

My Goodwin tree is quite extensive and has been researched by someone in the Kent area. I have lots of info and don't want anybody wasting their precious time but it is so kind of you.
It was just the query after looking at the 1881 census re Thomas 1823 or 1827 that threw me slightlyand I didn't have any 1841 info. I have a feeling he was a late baptism.
(Evening Ozibird - I still have that handbag symbol on my keyboard you know).
Will check Sarah's 'death' tomorrow.

I wonder if yes that is Sarahs death & the daughter Sarah lied about her age so she could look after her siblings & Dad was away working

Julie, yes, pretty sure about that so maybe his wife wasn't dead after all - but where is James??
I have the children's baptisms from Medway City Ark but had a query over their son Thomas. On the MCA he was baptised in1827 but on the 1881 he is 58 so the dates don't tally. I am wondering if he was 4 years old when he was baptised as he was baptised on the same day as his brother John. Hope this makes sense - maybe I should do this in the broad light of day!!!
