Find Ancestors

Hi,
Is there anyone who could do me a 1911 lookup please?
I'm trying to find out where John Thomas YOUNG was born.
He was born approx 1870 possibly in the Tynemouth, North Shields area.

I don't know much about him - he married one of my relatives, Mary Ellen ELMS on April 8th 1919.
On their marriage certificate he was 49 years old, an engineer living at 26 North King Street, North Shields, Tynemouth District. He was a widower when he married Mary Ellen. His father was called James Stewart YOUNG, (a boiler maker) but was deceased when John got married.

Have you found him on 1901 census or prior to that?
John Youngs are many !

Might help if we can confirm his birthplace beforehand - this might be him. Father James is a boiler smith I think - please check Vivienne!!

I don't think the one I found is the right one.....this ones father was a mason.

I suppose he could have gone from being a Stone mason to an engineer between 1911 and 1918 Vera.
The war did change many peoples occupations.

Not found a death for James Stewart Young.

Just wondering if the family were Scottish !!

I think that Brummiejan has found them in the 1871 and 1881 census - it looks as if John was born in Stockton.

No, I'm not 100% sure about it!! :-) But John's dob fits right in the 1881 census. Just wondering if anyone who has access to 1911 census could see if there is a John Thomas Young born in Stockton in 1870 possibly living in North Shields area? Then we could see if it is the right one in the 1881 census. Oh and something I forgot to mention earlier, he was sometimes known as Jack.

When John Thomas married in 1919, he was a widower and I;ve just been looking up deaths for a his possbile first wife Mary Jane and found a possible death for her.

Her age is out by 3 years, but its a possible.
