my nans name was florence alice gunning she married a henry furgus wright.which i have details of i also have 1901 cencers when my nan was married to henry wright. she married in 1896 in west ham. her father is down as robert gunning decd.profession carpenter.i cant find a birth for my nan or for robert her father and no marrage for robert.i would like to find out about robert or any other family members.if any one can help i would be so greatfull thank you for your time and best wishes for the new year patricia

Hi I found Flora her parents were Martin Henry born in Dorset 1833 died West Ham 1882 he was a carpenter.His wife was Mary Catherine Brookman born aobut 1836 in Southampton died 1891 reristered in Dec but can't find her 1891 census.They were married 1857.

1881 they are down as Guming.

As there seems to be no record of birth or census for a Florence could this be her and her dad chose to call himself Robert.
Martin and Mary had son Robert 1868.

She appears 1881 (mistranscribed as GUMING) as daur of Martin H Gunning b1833 Lytchet Dorset and he is a Carpenter. She has a bother Robert and if her father died when she was young she may not have known his first name and assumed it was Robert like her brother
The entry of fathers names on marriage certs is very unreliable for various reasons -who are the witnesses on the marriage cert?
