Oh no problem with the 1911, I just meant if I'd known someone else would be looking for the other family members I'd have put the info here or suggested that BOB do it!

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 10 Jan 2010 23:41

I've removed the 1911 and let them at elast find something thats free i suppose.

I dunno, our friend hasn't been back.

I didn't reproduce the 1911 census info because I thought BOB might like to look at the image themself at automated genealogy and I wasn't expecting somebody else to start looking for the info already found there!

I don't know why the question was just about the one brother, maybe it was known the other family members were in the US. Might have been nice to know. ;)

Ahhh ok JC, do we need anything on the brother?

JaneyCanuck Report 10 Jan 2010 23:35

Tracey, the whole family are on the 1911 Canadian census, immigrated to Canada 1906 (the immig date is in the census).

It looks like one brother headed south of the border first and the others joined him.

The first inbound trip.... looks like the whole family emigrated!

Sorry Tracy, my guess on that Viola Carr marriage was out, that guy is 10 years too old, and our Walter's father was James.

The California death index is an exact match for the birthdate on the WWI record, and he was indeed born in Newport, so that looks like it's him, terrific!

A bit of an unclear question. Any one can see his attestation papers online and free.
For his service record, any one can order the record - there's a per page charge + postage,
with a discount for OAPs. Drill down at:

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/index-e.html

and you can see the link at:

The whole census page? Did it get sorted?

Change your subject line to "Ontario marriages Ancestry help please" or some such maybe, and you should get those marriage details before long!

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 10 Jan 2010 20:59

His brother is transcribed as Alfred C Alexander at automatedgenealogy, but he seems to have been Alfred George. His enrolment papers are there too, the typing is very fuzzy but the mother seems to be Susanna for him as well and the August 1892 birthdate matches. He too seems to have survived.

Searching at Ancestry, Ontario marriages, there is a marriage for a Walter Alexander with mother Susanna, it seems - searching for the marriage of an Alexander with mother Susanna. The wife may be Viola Carr, doing the search in reverse for someone who married Walter Alexander with mother Susanna (the Ontario records are much more detailed than in England).

I don't subscribe there but someone here with Ancestry worldwide may be able to help.

http://search.ancestry.ca/search/db.aspx?dbid=7921

Marriages are only available up to 1924, and no births after 1909.

Didn't get the whole page at first. My I wish your marriages were as easy!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

JaneyCanuck Report 10 Jan 2010 20:51

You're welcome! You can find him in the 1911 census too.

http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/census11/index.jsp

click Ontario, enter Alexander, then on the next screen filter by putting given name Walter. He's the last one on the list, Walter R L Alexander - how nice of him to use his whole name!

Then click on the page number beside his name, 49, to see the whole list. His family is listed with him. Then click "split view" at the top to see the original image. Enlarge it to 100% and scroll down the page until you hit the Alexanders.
