Find Ancestors

I am trying to put together the tree for the Budds family from Queens County Ireland [now called County Laois]. Starting from Thomas Budds Esquire, who appears to have been a wealthy landowner. There are very few official records left to search for this County, so any help would be appreciated. Many of the family came to Tasmania and VIctoria in the 1830's to 1850's. Thanks, Rosemary.

Thank you Ann of Green Gables, you have given me a lot of leads to follow up on. I have already seen some but it is good to know that I have been on the right track. It does get a bit tricky with the name Budd and Budds, I am not sure if they all came from the same place originally. It appears to me that the BUDD family are all from England from the early 1800's and the BUDD(S) family are from Ireland. Perhaps they both originated from the same point.

Budds family associated with a 9bay, three story buliding on the outskirts of Portalosie, a corn store, connected to a nearby distillery.
In Timogue, a corn mill was owned by Thomas Budds around 1840, and by Frererick Budds in 1860

Thanks for that info. I have already got a report of the Corn Mill and now have many Budds people from Pilot and the newly available Census of 1901.
