hi everybody,
i am trying to get the birth details of a Edith Maud Dearsley b. 1885 in stradishall.
she appears on the 1891 census in west tilbury aged 6 and again in 1901.
when i search for her birth i get nothing?
in 1881 her grandfather was in little bradley in suffolk
can anybody guide me please, edith is my wifes great grandmother

hi, thanks for the replies, i have already reached this far, and so hit a brick wall, although i take the point that brummiejan regarding the Coes.
i still dont quite understand how they recorded births in 1885, who was the birth reported to?
also i take the point that she is a child of one of the members in 1871.
i shall look at getting the birth record of coe and see what it says

Samual seemed to be with her over 2 census, but that does not mean he is the father, could be from his sisters

Her birth might not have been registered.

My grandfather was born 1884 - one of 6 children (that I know of) all born between 1874 and 1894 - not one of them is registered.

Frustrating, but it happened.

There is an Ethel Maud Dearsley registered St Saviours(southwark) Dec 1880 1d/31. In 1891 she is with parents in Gloucestershire Father Thomas 37 born Whitchurch Hants. manager Jam Factory. Mother Annie born Stradishall Brother Henry.

ok got the cert, edith maud is the daughter of Thomas Syer Coe and Elizabeth Betsy Coe formally Dearsley born 1884 November 8th

but now i find no record of the family in 1841

but when i search for them in 1841 there is nothing, only john dearsley's come back (3 of them)

search 1841 with just first name, living is Stradishall, if you think they were.

there cannot be many Isabellas living there in 1841- prob find Dearsley recorded as Dearley or something

it looks as though they were there in 1841 as well
