Jane and Alice were definitely sisters. The family is complicated because an Edward Broadley married a Betty Broadley, thus crossing two branches of the family. Jane was baptized at Altham, born 20 jan 1802, buried at Altham as daughter of Edward 8 aug 1856. Her brother Robert was born in 1805 and Alice or Alley in 1808. Edward died in 1808 and Betty lived in a house in the Moorside till she died in 1839, buried Altham. In 1841 in the Moorside there is a double page spread with several broadley families. Two of those families are of a Thomas Broadley=Ann Monk and an Edward Broadley =Nanny Monk at Altham 1810. These are from a branch which had been catholic and they are brothers. The Edward who died was their cousin and he was born catholic, but Betty was from an Anglican line so their children were Anglican, sorry got to make tea, will return, Marie |

As you say you know nothing about them other than Jane's illegitimate son, I'm curious to know how you are certain they are sisters? |
