Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me find the birth cert for James Arrowsmith my g g grandfather born 1840 in Sedgefield, his father was Thomas Arrowsmith and he was an Agricultural Farmer , his mothers details we dont have. James married Hannah Watson in 1860, James Died in 1916 in Darlington. Thomas Arrowsmith his father does'nt appear in any of the census after 1861?

have you looked on FreeBMD. but it may be possible he wasnt regsistered as it wasnt compulsary til 1875.

In later censuses I can see James Arrowsmith married to Hannah M born in Yorkshire (Aldwark) living in Darlington. Is this a different James?
(If it is the correct James there are various in-laws to give you lots of information)

Thank you yes this is the correct family.

We cannot find an entry for the birth cert for James, we only have his father from the marriage cert of James and Hannah, we believe Thomas was born around 1814.

There is a Thomas and Ann who emigrated to America in 1861, they are registerd in Ohio and Thomas was registered as an Agricultural farmer from Aldwark, but without James's mothers details we are unable to make the connection to them.

Thank you for your time with this and yes this is the family, ive been a member of Gene's for around 3 years now and have other family members also on here, we have come to a dead end with James as we cannot find his birth cert, we can only find his marraige cert and from that his father's name so unable to go any further and finding it most frustrating !!

All the census I have put up says he was born in Yorks.

I can't seem to find a birth for him!!

Just going out!

No penalty until 1875 for not registering births - so you will probably have to try to find a baptism for him in the Parish registers
