Dear all,

I am looking for more information about my relation Elizabeth Ann Connolly. She was born on 23 December 1930 in Bermondsey, Surrey. I was recently told that she died Elizabeth Ann Risbry in August 1946 in El Paso, Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.

She emmigrated to the USA in about 1930, and this is all I know of her. Now, I've looked for a Connolly Risbry marriage but I can't find anything. Now this info was passed onto me, and so I don't know how reliable it is either ... I know this one is a long shot (or it is in my eyes) but I thought I post it on here in case anyone can help.

What was her surname when she emigrated?

What is her surname on the 1911 census?

Oh I am such a fool! Yes, sorry, Elizabeth was born in 1870 as Elizabeth Ann Connolly. She was born in Bermondsey, Surrey.

I don't know when she was married, or even who she married, but I have been told by a fellow researcher (who I have lost contact with), that she died under the name Elizabeth Ann Risbry in August 1946 in El Paso, Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. This researcher also told me that she emmigrated to the USA in about 1930.

So, she died aged about 76 years, and I sadly don't know her name in 1911 ... it could be that she was married more than once and Risbry is her second or third or beyond marriage!

Can I make this any easier in finding out where she is in 1901 and 1911 census?

Yes that is the correct baptism

Yes that is also her in 1881; although I can't find her after this! The family cannot be found in 1891 and by 1901, Elizabeth has 'left home'.

The next I know of her is the death in Colorado in 1946!

Yes this is them! Wow, well at least it would appear to be ... Elizabeth did have relations in Middlesbrough at that time!

It makes you wonder. Ethel is a nurse. Her brother has TB in 1930. The family came to the US in 1928. Had he been diagnosed prior to that and Ethel made the health decision to move to Colorado?

NOw that is interesting Maureen as the family were 'held as Aliens' when they got to New York. I wonder if that was common, or becuase Thomas has TB? I only found this out yesterday in the library when I was searching on ancestry. Ancestry also showed that Ethel returned to Middlesbrough in the 1930s but I can't see when she left to return to the USA. Also, the brother that stayed in Middlesbrough died in his 60s; Ethel and her brother in the USA died in the 80s/90s! Perhaps she was a healthy woman!

It must be that mountain air.
