This is my Great-grandmother's brother.

Emily Jane is my great-grandmother. I was to England in 2006 and went to Hathersage (I was travelling by bicycle) and looked up the home she was born in - East Wood Cottage. Which was a thrill and very touching all at the same time to actually stand there!!

This is my great-grandmother Emily Jane's younger brother. Just realized that he doesn't have his mother's maiden name Cook like his younger brothers. All of George and Elizabeth's kids were born in Hathersage.

I have no idea - That is quit possible of course. My Grace would have been born "probably" in Ashton under Lyn as her sibblings all were. The birth date seems possible. What drives me nuts about them all is that they are named after each other!!! Each generation is named after an aunt or uncle! I am so glad that my great-grandmother Emily at least had a middle name! But alas, neither is she named after anyone or anyone her! :-) But her brothers all have Cook as their middle names. - her mother's maiden name.

Emily Jane married Thomas Young from Manchester. His father is Thomas Young and his mother Henrietta Burton Lyon. Thomas and Henrietta may have had 3 kids together a John, Henrietta and Thomas. But I believe they separated - not sure when or even if Thomas died as Henrietta later married someone by the name of Watson and they had 3 or 4 kids. I have even wondered if he went to prison? I would be interested in getting info on the Watsons as they are half blood to us too.

Emily Jane and Thomas Young jr had 4 kids: Thomas Spencer (died age 1), Conrad Hurbert, Charles Walter (my grandfather) and Beatrice Emily. They lived in the Birmingham area. All of her decendants are here in Canada. Thomas remarried a woman named Alice and had two more children. Thomas passed away suddenly after a couple of years and the three older children were sent to Canada as orphans. I have found a great-grandson of Thomas and Alice's daughter Elsie through this website. Which was a thrill but he doesn't have any on Elsie's younger brother Harold. As Elsie and Harold were not raised together.

I am interested in finding Thomas and Alice's youngest child Harold Thomas Young - doesn't seem to have a birth certificate - Thomas died only a few weeks before Harold was born so it must have been a chaotic time for the family etc and he just was never registered. He left home for the Canada/US by boat when he was 14-17 years of age. But that is were we loose him. Rumour has it he is buried in Seattle, Washington sometime in the '60's but I don't have any concrete info on that. I would love to be able to find who he married and his children etc. Would you be able to help with that? I live in Vancouver, BC so it would be easy enough for me to make a trip to Seattle (3 hour car ride) if we were able to find proof that he is buried there.

Yes, Eunice married William. This is the branch of the Spencer family that has had a lot of research done on. The only other one is her brother George - which is my research.

I am looking for their decedants - on my tree I have the info for my great-grandmother Emily's decedants and from others on Genes Reunited I know of Eunice's decedants but that is where every thing seems to stop. I am also looking for info on the Cooks - Emily's mothers family.

My great grandmother Emily Jane Spencer's parents are George Hulme Spencer and Elizabeth Cook. I know who Emily Jane's sibblings are and where they were born and of course Emily Jane's decendants but I only know about one of her aunts Eunice Spencer Standrin George's sister. But I can't find any info about any of George's other sibblings and decedants or Emily's sibblings and their decedants.

I have tried to find info on Elizabeth Cook - think her father maybe was Richard Cook. George was in the needle manufacturing business in Hathersage and so was Elizabeth's uncle Robert Cook. I can't find any info about her mother, sibblings, etc.
