From the christening record of William Nichol(l)s at St Gregory, Sudbury, Suffolk, I know his parents to be Peter Nichols and Sarah Redgewell.
I cannot trace their marriage nor Sarah's death.
I believe (almost certain) that Peter was born in Sudbury in 1788 and I believe he moved to London where he and Sarah had another son Thomas in 1820 in Southwark.
It would help me greatly to find Sarah's death.

I have traced Peter Nicholls on Census 1841, 1851 and 1861 Census. He is married to Mary Ann Hennicker in 1825 and has more children over the following years.

On the 1851 Census William is shown - son of Peter & Sarah.

The from Mel is correct.

Ann of Green Gable's info relates to another line of the Nicholls family

I would still like to 'kill' off Sarah Nicholls, in the timeframe before Peter marries his second wife Mary Ann Henniker. Any thoughts.

I should clarify my comment that the 1851 Census shows William as 'son of Peter & Sarah' It shows Peter as head of family, Mary as his wife (aged 49), William as son (aged 35) and 2 daughters. William could not, therefore, be the son of Mary.

Peter was born in Sudbury, was a bargebuilder and moved to Southwark with his wife, Sarah, and had another son Thomas. The 1851 census shows Peter as born Sudbury, occupation Barge Builder. I cannot think their are two people with the same info, so Peter is the same person and married twice.

I have a daughter, Caroline born 1822 to Peter and Sarah, who was baptised 9 June 1822.

This would mean your find is not my Sarah Nichol(l)s
