I would be very greateful if anyone can help me. I have the 7 children of Gerald and Kate Duval (often spelled Du Val), from Chorlton Lancs. I know what happened to the parents, but the children seem to have vanished. ! I've found that Bessie Duval married her cousin George Kipping in Oct-Dec 1896 - can't find either of them in 1901 or 1911 censuses. Lucy Emma Duval married Oct-Dec 1898, I'm pretty sure to Edmund Nicholson - again cannot find them in censuses. Bartram Duval married another cousin, Margaret Shimwell (born c.1879) in Stockport Apr-Jun 1902. Again - I can't find them in the 1911 census. Any advice where else to look would be much appreciated. |

I'd specially like to know what happened to Bessie Du Val after she married George Kipping, Chorlton Dec 1896. She was an artist and I have got a book with illustrations by Bessie Duval who I'm sure must be her (the dates and location fit). I'd live to know if she continued her art after her marriage. Anway, any help VERY much appreciated. Nicky |

Where indeed? I wonder if they all emigrated en masse.... Perhaps a relative will turn up one day on Genes Reunited.. Thanks for your attempts and at least I've got Bartram now. Thanks again. Nicky |

Many thanks Andy. In the meantime I had a look at some passenger lists. Only one I could find was a "Mr Allan Du Val" (quite unusual name so fairly sure he must be our man): went to Sierra Leone from Liverpool on 26 June 1897 on SS Dahomey. Unfortunately no further details. Nicky |

If you google "Bessie KIpping"-there's an article in the British Medical Journal (all the way at the end of the page) that mentions the death of a Mrs Temple Smith-a daughter Audrey and sisters Bessie Kipling and Blanche Norman Melland . |
