Dear All - to update - as a result of your help, a 3rd cousin of mine, previously unknown to me, spotted the thread on the internet and contacted me. I now know where all these people vanished to (mostly to France, some to Australia, one to Buenos Aires!), and what happened to their sons and daughters. Found Denis Du Val died at Gallipoli, where his name is on the Anzac (Lone Pine) memorial. So just to thank you all very much for all your help. Nicky |

If you google "Bessie KIpping"-there's an article in the British Medical Journal (all the way at the end of the page) that mentions the death of a Mrs Temple Smith-a daughter Audrey and sisters Bessie Kipling and Blanche Norman Melland . |

Many thanks Andy. In the meantime I had a look at some passenger lists. Only one I could find was a "Mr Allan Du Val" (quite unusual name so fairly sure he must be our man): went to Sierra Leone from Liverpool on 26 June 1897 on SS Dahomey. Unfortunately no further details. Nicky |

Where indeed? I wonder if they all emigrated en masse.... Perhaps a relative will turn up one day on Genes Reunited.. Thanks for your attempts and at least I've got Bartram now. Thanks again. Nicky |

I'd specially like to know what happened to Bessie Du Val after she married George Kipping, Chorlton Dec 1896. She was an artist and I have got a book with illustrations by Bessie Duval who I'm sure must be her (the dates and location fit). I'd live to know if she continued her art after her marriage. Anway, any help VERY much appreciated. Nicky |
