Aileen, had a look at the birth cert for Andrew John b. 1876 in Calton, it is the right one with parents Ellen McCluskey and James Downie,

Note James Downie has been employed working with horses one way or another through the different census.

It's looking like his workplace could have been ... the Tramway Stables in Tobago Street. Images can be seen on:

Catherine Street later changed name to .. Drake St, Calton

Thank you very much , I will take a look at the Mirchell website.
I have looked on the Mitchell website before and found quite a few old photos of streets where my ancestors lived , it's fascinating, even found the street where I used to go to nursery about 60 years ago now , Gawd giving me age away now.
