Hi Mandy, it's been nearly twelve months since Gail posted her last message and she may not be looking for replies any more.

You can try clicking on her name and sending your message that way.. If she still has the same email address she will be notified.

If you are looking for connections on this site, then try putting the names you are researching into the Search Trees box above (in the dark green bar). If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner.

Hi Gail not sure if we've had contact before but my gt grandmother was "Helen" Addison
Helen was born 22nd June 1891 at 8 Iris Street Kirkdale to parents Pearson George Addison & Mary Ann Jones ...her name on B/C is Elizabeth Ellen Addison...she is also christened as Elizabeth Ellen
A 10 year old "NELLY" is on 1901 census living with her uncle Thomas Addison at Luke Street Toxteth Park
Helen Addison married Edward Thomas Howard in 1912 at Stanley St Annes

my grandfather Edward Thomas Howard was born in 1916 & his mothers name is HELEN Addison

I believe her family called her Nelly ....my auntie never knew her christian name ...they called her nanny Howard !!!

I have only been able to find a death of a NELLIE Howard 1Q 1969 Liverpool S ....age 74

hope that helps

Thanks Michael and Victoria.....appreciate your time

I think I will give up on this and not add her to my tree....particularly as not in any census to link her to the family

Thanks again

If she was Elizabeth's daughter then her name at birth could have been Ashton.

Does Elizabeth and Pearson's marriage cert say that she was a widow ?

Gail

Gail Report 8 Jul 2010 14:46

Hi Michael

yes Pearson did marry twice
I have the details of him and both wives and other children

My sticking point is whether Helen is a daughter (which other people have in their tree). I cannot see a birth or a record of Helen in any census, so I don't know if she is in fact a daughter

To add to the confusion, there were more than 1 Pearson born about the time, so Helen's marriage cert details would still not ensure that she in fact a duaghter of 'my' Pearson

If I could locate on a census it may make things clearer

I live in hope!!!

Thanks again

You need to obtain Helen's marriage cert. See what age she is and work backwards from there.

Possible ?

in 1901 Ernest G Addison was a patient in hospital
Florence sent to Canada in 1908
this would imply that Helen was living with another family or relative
her first child was Ernest G Howard (maybe named after her brother)

Good thinking!! He was a railway porter in 1891, 1901 and died in 1908...so certificate may say deceased railway porter?

Is still strange that I cannot find birth for Helen or no records of her on any census though.

Vicci

Vicci Report 7 Jul 2010 02:40

the certificate should have father's occupation on as well, so unless both Pearson Addison's had the same occupation you should be able to match up with census

it should also give address
the witnesses might give a clue as well

Gail

Gail Report 7 Jul 2010 02:36

Sorry Victoria, I had the marriage details but not the certificate

The father of the other siblings is Pearson Addison, however there are 2 Pearson's born in the area with near birth dates, so I guess marriage cert would still not let us know for certain

I am also unable to locte her on census, yet have the other siblings!

Thanks for your help
