Thankyou again! I see on this ref. Pridgeon is spelt Pridgean is this a common mistake? How exciting, on Elizabeths birth cert. the address says 31Jeffreys street Pancras? |

As there never has been a standardised spelling of names anything is possible when it comes to names being recorded by others. It is worth remembering that a large part of the population were illiterate right up until the end of the 19th century. Records about people would be made by registrars, church ministers and census enumerators. If you were illiterate then you were not in a position to question what was being written or how it was being spelled. |

On the 1881 transcript the name is written Pridgson, someone has simply mistaken an e for an s. |
