That was exactly what I was wondering, and I had wanted to mention how not unheard of that sort of thing was, but hadn't wanted to say out loud. (And still is today, unfortunately, particularly for stepdaughters as in this case.) It would certainly be one explanation for his leaving home, or being put out, right at that time. |

it is complicated, i believe mildred martha pratt might be the daughter of mildred martha pratt and the george thrower. i am now going to apply for his death cert. thanks for all this information. regards valerie |

thanks for getting back to me, i didn't think it could be the blything one as it is not in norfolk. i have also checked the 1901 census and found a george thrower, blything with another family (unless he had another family). valerie |
