My great grandfather was James O'neill born around 1951 according to the 1901 census although the 1911 census he is bit older......he married Mary O'Neill
( nee ?)...

Have all their childrens names on census including my granny Bridget O'Neil.

I am on Emeraldancestors.com (again) but cannot find James parents. Can anyone help?

The O'Neills tended to live around the Drummurrer Coalisland part of Tyrone!

Thanx ever so much!

Hmm, I have to say I'm struggling here...

I found a marriage of James O'neill to a Mary.. However whether it's your James and Mary, I'm not sure. He would be older than the census suggests...

I'll post it anyway- you never know! And if it is, it may help with Mary's surname:

James O'Neill Pedigree
Male Family
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Event(s):
Birth: About 1843 Hyde Park, Templepatrick, Antrim, Ireland

Christening:
Death:
Burial:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages:
Spouse: Mary Hunter Family
Marriage: About 1868 Hyde Park, Templepatrick, Antrim, Ireland

best wishes,
Tansy

If that was him...

Then i think this would be the parents:

James O'NEILL (AFN: 15GB-8BM) Pedigree
Sex: M Family
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Event(s)
Birth: 1844
, , Antrim, Ireland

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parents
Father: John O'NEILL (AFN: 15GB-887) Family
Mother: Jean MCNETT (AFN: 15GB-89F)

However, none of this is in Tyrone so I could be completely wrong! :/

My mother and my granny came from the Drummurrer parts in Clonoe county Tyrone!

Can anyone else help me find the names of my great grandparents?

UlsterClans

UlsterClans Report 14 Aug 2010 23:46

Did people make themselves out to be older in order to gain the pension quicker?

Is that why my grandfather and grandmother are much older than 10 years from one census to another a decade later?

Hi Patricia

The marriage of James O'Neill in Tyrone 1881 is listed on www.ifhf.rootsireland.ie

However its a pay per view site and will cost you 5 euro. The other option is to send to the GROI for a copy of the certificate?

Hope that helps a little!

UlsterClans Report 20 Aug 2010 17:20

If i pay for my grannys "pay per view" will it give me her parents names?

UlsterClans

UlsterClans Report 20 Aug 2010 18:36

I paid the 5 euro on pay per view on RootsIreland i.e. to view my grandparents marriage ....it didnt give the full names of their parents only the surnames which was what i was after as i already had the details of their marriage date place and surnames so waste of money there!

So is that all the info i will get on their marriage cert if i paid Groni?

Does anyone know ?

UlsterClans

UlsterClans Report 20 Aug 2010 18:44

My grandparents marriage lines on Emeraldancestors....

Record Type Civil Marriage
Date of Marriage 14 Feb 1901
Groom Name patrick TEGGART
Bride Name bridget ONEILL
Church Coalisland Roman Catholic Church
Parish Donaghenry
Civil District Dungannon
County Tyrone

But on RootsIreland pay per view it states parish as Clonoe and also states church marriage not civil..

(Dates are names are correct ) (Clonoe is close to Coalisland vicinity)

Is this normal?
