I have been working on your other thread and wnted to know abot Thomas as I have found a record for him with his mother named as next of kin. I wanted to know if Ruth was his mother, I have also found a tree on Ancestry with this family. I might have saved some time if you had kept it one thread.

thank you Vera, yes my sister told me about this programme. Very frustrating, will have to accept we may never know thank you so much for being so nice. Although I might ring the British Library , Elizabeth may have worked for the East India Company as I have heard from another relative that is what happened to the girl who was in their family.

I don't think you are going to be able to go back to Elizabeths mother...obviously because there was no name.....but also on the programme ....Who do you think you are...Rupert Penry-Davies had the same problem........his ancestor ( born in India ) was Eurasian...( on the certificate it stated Indo-Briton apparently that was the term used.)

Unfortunately they were stumped because although they had her mothers first name...which incidently was Elizabeth...they didn't have her maiden name.

gael, don't know about this one. Trimulgherry is certainly where William had been stationed when he just married Elizabeth Beaton in 1861. Ruth, my Grandmother, did call one of her children Frederick, she was born though in 1868 but this could have been her brother. Is there any other way of finding this out for me. How did you get this information. Not very long doing this kind of research. Have tried on the genes reunited sites but their births and marriages were not coming up. Although I had known through getting birth certificates etc. but this is a new one. I am awfully interested in finding out.thank you so much.

sorry this is not the correct william smith. found out he came from Fornham, All saints born 1831. Thank you so much for trying. Elizabeth Beaton, his wife we believe is of Eurasian background. We would love to know more about Elizabeth Beaton. Her father was Joseph Beaton but do not know her mother's maiden name.
