There are is one death in 1875 for a Helen Craig in Lanarkshire on scotlandspeople and two for Samuels in 1882. None of them have MMN recorded as Porter. This doesn't necessarily mean that that isn't the MMN as not all MMNs have been indexed. |

Can anyone find a death for a John Craig born to this pair (James Craig and Sarah Porter) who was born 1867 - doesn't appear in 1871 census so probably died within the four year period. Here is family search entry for his birth |

just to thank you all again for your help I now have a graph which seems to work. If you find any trees on the children shown in this thread I'd appreciate knowing. |

I haven't purchased the birth cert of Thomas Angus - will have to wait for funds again as I've recently spent £150 just getting where I am now. Here is marriage of Thomas Angus Craig aged 20 in 1924 |

Many thanks for the additional help on this part of the family - I seached all names on GR site for those matching the census entries and send queries to any that might match - awaiting reply. I think it is likely that the age 15 in 1871 should be 5 which would make more sense and make dob more of a match. |

Dennis, it really does look like a mistranscription on the census that has Alice as a Dougan. The child Sarah Dougan is almost certainly a Craig named for Alexander's mother. You do really need to look at the original image on Scotlandspeople. From the death certificate that you have for Alice at the time of her death she was married to Alexander. From that you can take it that Alexander died after 1907. You could look for his death on SP narrowing the search by an approximate year of birth. |

James and Sarah's marriage: |

|
Potty | Report | 7 Oct 2010 11:22 |
So, Alexander's father was James. I am pretty sure that the families I have found in 1891 and 1881 are Alexander's. The facts that James and Alexander have the same occupation and also that James and Sarah were in Ireland at the same time as Alexander are too much of a coincidence for it not to be the right family. |
