Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 3 Jan 2011 14:27

her maiden name would be shown on her marriage cert to Arthur as it should give her dads name

Thanks Shirley

I didn't realise her maiden name was Monk, I'll crack on and look for her marriage to Goodman.

Much appreciated

These are the only two Amelia's without a middle name who married a Monk between 1916 and 1939 when the second marriage occurred:-

If the marriage to Arthur Beck/Beek was her second marriage then Monk was her previous married name - not her maiden name. Not sure where the name Goodman fits in.

Do you know when Amelia was born as the date you give of 1842 can't be right?

If thats the right marriage then her dads name on the cert will give you her maiden name otherwise you are going round in circles!!

Hey ladies, this is brilliant.

My grandmothers name was Ada Monk (married name Kirkup), but I have found her and on her birth registration it details "Monk Ada G Goodman" 1932 I prob need to get a copy of her birth cert, and I know Amelia's marriage to Arthur was her second marriage, my grandmother and her brothers and sisters were not his children (he was a very lovely man).

I'm just doing my grandmothers side of the family tree.

Thanks for the help

Rebecca

If that is a birth reference you have given for Ada G. Monk, then her mother's maiden name was Goodman. Her first marriage must have been to a Mr. Monk.

so Amelia was previously married pre 1932.and she must have been a Goodman who married Monk as thats the maiden name quoted on Ada's birth
