Hi ........... just wanted to thank everyone for their help with this thead and especially to Rambling Rose. I purchased the marriage certificate of Doris and Jack Latchford and it is the correct Doris! Furthermore, I have been in contact with their daughter's niece, who has very kindly sent me a photo of my great aunt Doris who I have never seen or met. Although the whole family is deceased, it's one step closer to finding my elusive grandmother, Lilian Ethel/ Edith Hunt who is Doris' sister.

Thank you once again
Hilary

Thank you very much for that RamblingRose!

Just wondering if there is any way of checking a bride's age before ordering a marriage certificate. Is there a website that could provide this additional information?

You're welcome. With the exact date of birth it will be easier to match the death with the marriage.

Hilary Report 9 Feb 2011 16:41

Astra ...... thank you so much for taking the time to help me, it really is very much appreciated! I don't have the exact date of birth for Doris or Gladys but it looks like I might need to purchase their birth certificates to find out. In the meantime, you've given me some promising info on Doris to follow up.

Thanks once again.

Astra

Astra Report 9 Feb 2011 16:25

Julie please...............If you have nothing constructive to add can you just drop it. Any new people reading this thread will think twice about posting queries if they are going to be subjected to this sort of behaviour.
It is neither necessary nor constructive.

Julie ...... I have just reported your offensive remark. Perhaps you'd like to remove it from this thread before one of the moderators does.

good for you - hang in there and someone will come up with something for you -

Hilary

Hilary Report 9 Feb 2011 15:31

Thank you for your kind words Ann, they are very much appreciated.

I would have been very discouraged and not returned to the site again if I hadn't already experienced the kindness, patience and thoughtfulness of those lovely genuine people who are willing to help, such as yourself.

Best wishes
Hilary

of course there is no need for it Hilary, no need at all, but that's the way it goes sometimes unfortunately

looking for relatives should be a fun pastime

please don't be discouraged, the vast majority of people on these boards ar very obliging

Hilary

Hilary Report 9 Feb 2011 15:10

Thank you for looking but I did say that i have already checked freebmd so I was hoping that someone with access to other records might be able to help.

Fortunately, I am not totally new to this site and know how very helpful others can be. There really is no need to be so brusque in your replies ......... It doesn't cost anything to be polite.

Julie

Julie Report 9 Feb 2011 15:02

Oh well excuse me but i was trying to help you & i have been look on freeBMD for marriage since i 1st replied 20 minutes ago......but hey ho laters

Hilary

Hilary Report 9 Feb 2011 14:59

Julie ............ there are 40 marriages alone for Gladys M Hunt listed on freebmd between 1924 to 1934. The family resided in the Manor Park area (West Ham) and that is all I have to go on. If you haven't got anything constructive to add, please don't waste your time ..........

Julie

Julie Report 9 Feb 2011 14:46

Did they stay in the same area then

I see you have added to your last reply but not replied to the last question

Hilary

Hilary Report 9 Feb 2011 14:43

Thank you Julie but they are not in the right area .................... and the same can be said for Gladys
