Hi Gary,

thanks Cynthia for your comments, but rest assured I am still here, and delighted to get the post. I had been in Europe on holiday for a bit, tracking down some of my Dutch family links.

I believe I have a copy of Emma Harveys marriage cert, saved on my work computer. I will check it tomorrow for you. I also have contact with a Harvey descendant in Australia who is specialising in the Ferrar famiy links. If I don't have the information, then I am certain she will.

Please be patient, I assure you I will come back to you as soon as possible

Hello Gary and welcome to the boards.

It has been a few months since Roz posted her message and she may not be looking for anymore replies.

If you click on her name, you can send your message that way. If she still has the same email address, she will be notified.

However, if you would like help with your research, why not start a thread of your own? Take a look at the first post on the Find Ancestors board for further advice on how to do that.

Also, if you put the names you are researching into the Search Trees box above (in the dark green bar), you will be able to see if anyone else on this site is researching the same family. If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owners.

Regards. Cx.

Hello Roz, my ggg grandmother's sister, Jane Cook, married a Frederick Augustus Ferrar in 1842. Jane died in 1862 and Frederick married Emma Harvey in 1867. Frederick Rickard Ferrar was the son of Frederick Augustus Ferrar and Jane Cook but I thought it was his father (Frederick Augusts) who married Emma. How do we know Emma married Frederick Rickard Ferrar?

Frederick (whichever Frederick it was) and Emma had a son Henry Augustus Ferrar who died in Adelaide, Australia, in 1943. He was married and had 4 children,

Sylvia, you research has given me a new child as well, Alice who appears in the 1861 census as a 10 year old.

I shall take your advice and google John and see if i can turn up something. I do wish my Henry Harvey had an exotic middle name! There are as you say so many Harveys in Bristol area, and a vanilla name like Henry is no help in sifting through them.

Roz

Thta had crossed my mind as well ........................ but Harvey is quite a common name in that area.

Might require quite some digging!

You could try googling, and see if anyone has done that John Harvey's tree.

Hello again, in the 1851 census record Henry Harveys occupation is shown as a Victualler.

This raises the question whether he is in fact connected in some way to the Harveys who started Bristol Cream Co. I know that it was a John Harvey that started the company, perhaps he is a relative?

Thanks again to Sylvia and Jax.

My Henry Harvey married Mary Wybrow in NZ in 1875 and died here in 1914. Charles, his brother, married Mary Johnston in Nov 1871, Melbourne Australia, and died in NZ in 1917.

Henry also had 2 sons Charles and Henry, I am descended from Charles who was born 1879 in NZ, via my Nana Violet Harvey.

I have found that Charles, Henry, Ellen Harveys sister Emma married a Frederick Rickard Ferrar in 1867. Ellen was the witness. I think that Emma went to Australia also, so really I am left chasing Rebecca, William, Frank and Ellens descendants who may have remained in the UK.

Your information is just wonderful thank you, and hopefully some of the matches I now have for George Loft may turn up trumps.

With gratitude for all your assistance, Roz

Good Lord Sylvia, thank you so veyr much for all this informaiton! Its more than I could possibly have hoped for!

I am going to spend time now loading that into my tree and see where it all takes me. The Charles Harvey you have as a soldier, was the brother that went with my Henry to Australia, and we do not have any idea when that was. Will have to spend some time closing the time and informaiton gaps after your information.

I am intrigued that Rebecca lived so long, as all my Nans family are also long livers so that was passed down.

Ellen is my Henrys sister, but I had no record of a marriage/ anything at all so once I load that in to my tree I may get some matches?

I am still wondering what happened to Dad, no death record???

Sylvia, very excitied where this will take me and thank you again for much gap filling!!!

Happy to help with any info I can in NZ or Australia as there are Harvey researchers in Australia who I will be sharing this with, and I know they would be very happy to help in return.

NOTE:- ages of adults over the age of 15 are usaully a little out on the 1841 census ..... the enumerator was supposed to round down to the nearest 5, most did, some did not

Thus age 20 on the census could be any age between 20 and 24, 25 between 25 and 29, and so on.

question is, where is William Henry?
