I had looked at those too Helen but it is the child I am most interested in. I can't trace her after the 1841. She may have died of course but Iain needs to check the census details when he goes to the Library in Greenock and also check for any deaths so we can discount her if necessary. |

This keeps coming back to haunt me. Mary Armour with a 4 month old daughter Mary. I'm not sure whether she is with this family or not as there is a possibility she has been entered twice. Once born Ireland and again born Renfrewshire. If possible can someone check the original census image in 1841 on Scotland's People |

It sounds like the Humphrey I'm looking for, as in his Daughters marriage to John Devlin in 1862, his occuptation is given as Ship Carpenter. |

I'm wondering about this. Perhaps someone in Australia would be able to check him out further. |

Well that confirms that Sophia is her sister and Mary names one of her daughters Sophia so maybe we are on the right road. I have to keep coming and going but I had a quick look for a previous marriage for Humphrey but can't find one. |

Live in Greenock, so might have to pop downto James Watt Library as they hold a copy of the census records from 1841. |

??Might be worth a look at the original image for this census on Scotlands People. Humphrey born 1809 Glasgow. Could be that Mary has died and he has re-married. |

Yeah that sounds like them, so it seems she was born in Greenock. Still no luck on finding a Birth Cert for her. |
