Hi im finding it really hard to find my grandmother charlotte Threadkill Or threadkell been looking for years but can't seem to find her. All i know is that she was born around 1901 she married a Thomas hill and had one child norman fredrick Hill he was born in darlington. any help would really great cheers

Buy the marriage cert to find out how old Thomas was..and his father's details

The name is far too common for anyone to look for him without firm factual info.

Thomas Hill is quite a common name.

We know he was Thomas W from the FreeBMD marriage ref given by Pete earlier in this thread

Perhaps if you were able to give us some information from Thomas and Charlotte's marriage cert, such as Thomas's age and occupation, and the name and occupation of his father, it would give us something to work with.

It would also confirm whether or not we have the right father for Charlotte in Alfred Ernest.

Hi i know charlottes family is right when i told my aunty the names she remembered them from when my nana did the tree before she died but all the information got lost i was only 16 then I know he was called rhomas william hill and he was born around 1902 he died in middlesbrough in about 1963 when my dad was 14 but we are the last of his line as their son norman fredrick was an only child

Glad Charlotte's family is right, and hope you are happy to have some of her ancestors found on this thread.

However it would still be prudent to get the marriage cert as both Flick and I have advised, if you want to progress with certainty on finding correct information on Thomas William Hill and his forebears.

We should then be able to work out WHICH of the Thomas William Hills born c1902 he is in census 1911, and trace the family back from there (if that's what you want). Also, second names weren't always recorded in the census, so he might be down as plain Thomas Hill, details of his father's name and occupation are needed to help identify him.

Yeah i would like to find more out about him im not sure what he did for a living i know when grandad was born he was living in darlington that was in 1923 but not sure if thats were he was born or if it was Middlesbrough
