K,

Have had a quick look under Barton (mmn) but can't see anything that looks likely at the moment.

Hi Gwyn,

Welcome to the search. We have Henry Alfred dying sometime in the 3rd qtr of 1906. If Francis Herbert was born in Sept 1906 there is no way he could have fathered a child bn in 1907 is there?

K

K Report 29 Apr 2011 19:44

Could he have been registered in his mother's name? No checked - no sign

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 29 Apr 2011 19:40

I've been browsing Cityark site.

Not found Leonard yet, but have found a baptism at St Mary Magdalene, Gillingham on10 October 1906 ( born 4 Sept ) of a Francis Herbert FRIDAY, with parents shown as Henry Alfred and Mary Jane.
In the other columns it says he was a labourer ( deceased)
Address 50 Pier Road

This is the only evidence that he ever existed. All the others are accounted for including the immaculate conception that took place in 1912......6yrs after his father's death. Even Leonard looks dodgy having supposedly been born the year after his father died.

Hi K,

That is the one that keeps coming up.Thought it might have been a transcription error but have found a death for the same name.

Jax,

Only problem with the last child being born in 1912 is that Henry is supposed to have died in 1906.Everyone insists on listing him as part of the family but goodness knows who his real father is.

By the way the info on the Calkin family went down very well.

I know....I am having the same problem with FMP.

All of his siblings who were born in Gillingham come under the Medway reg dist. He is the youngest of four and have had no problem finding them.

Thanks for looking anyway.

He is proving to be something of a problem. If it wasn't for the 1911 census listing him as a son and another family member listing him in their tree (although I do wonder if he has just copied the list of children straight from the census page as he has no other info about any of the family and not just Leonard) I would doubt his existence.
