Can anyone help please as I am unable to find her after 1881 census when she was living with her Aunt, Elizabeth Alexander at the age of 11.
Her parents were James and Jane Dingle.
I believe she lived in the suburbs of London during the late 1920's. Possibility she became known as May. Married but no children. I do not know her married name. Her husband is believed to have been a publican.

That looks promising Ginny

Gee

Gee Report 6 May 2011 14:05

Theres a birth in the Midlands for a possible Laura and then later a birth in Yorkshire for Lizzie

Also a marriage in the Midlands in 1894 for a possible couple but Martha has the middle name of Jane

Hence me not posting all that stuff in case it's wrong!

Edit: Sorry Toots I missed that marriage that you posted earlier.....thats the same one I was thinking about

Martha Jane Dingle 1866 West brom daughter of Josiah and Sarah married Richard W Taylor.

So it seems to be another Martha Dingle.

Not sure if anyone is getting my replies. Can it be confirmed. I have been answering each person and then hit "send message". Presumably this is correct?

I see what you mean Mary but wasnt 'that' Martha born in the Midlands?

The census I posted has 'this' Martha born in Norfolk?

Patricia

Patricia Report 6 May 2011 19:04

Thanks to everyone who replied. Not sure if you have been getting my individual replies as I'm still trying to find my way around the postings.

Martha Dingle, I feel sure, was living in London in the 1920's/30's, married to a publican (name unknown). She had 4 brothers and sisters -
Mary A born c1865, Minnie born c1866, George born c1868, James John Dingle born c1872, all born in Norfolk. Possibility she could have been named "May".

According to the 1871 census Martha's sister born c1867 was called Maria.

Might be worth tracking her siblings through the census to see if she tuns up with any of them.

Patricia

MarieCeleste

the 1867 census is the only census that showed Maria. I believe that should have been Minnie (my great grandmother). I have checked all the siblings and in 1871 Minnie and 2 brothers were in a workhouse, whereas Martha was living with her Aunt, Elizabeth Alexander. Have not checked with the eldest sister - Mary Ann born c1865 Coltishall,Norfolk.

Patricia

I have received your pm(private message) but have been a little busy to reply. The best way is on the thread so everyone gets all the information at the same time.

To check whether or not any pm's that you send have been read, go to messages, sent messages and if the envelope is purple they are unread, if green they are read. :-)

This 1871 census seems to tie in with the birth that Andrew posted at 13: 51

Hi everyone

The child Maria is my grandmother "Minnie". Only the 1871 census shows name Maria.
I have all correct details until 1881 and then I hit a block with Martha.
Thanks TootyFruity for your help re receiving messages - much appreciated as I have been going round in circles.

Hi Ginny yes the 1901 Martha Taylor was born in Hemsby at the right time.

So it seems there were 2 Martha Dingles marrying Taylors.

One Martha Jane 1866 West Brom marrying Richard W Taylor and the Martha Dingle born 1869 Norfolk marrying another Taylor.

So where is the marriage for the second one??
