You would need to send for one of the certs to prove which William Bishop has a father William on his birth cert..

I am saying that that 1881 Censu I put on is a possibility for your William.

Back in the 1880's a lot of people only gave their Christian names when they got married. And if William Bishop 1873 only knew his Father was William not John William then thats the name he would have gave to the registrar/Vicar.

These are the only William/William born 1871/1873 in London

William Alfred Bishop 23 Apr 1871 William Jenkins Bishop,
Charlotte Bishop Kensington St James Norlands Kensington and Chelsea

William George Bishop 21 Nov 1873 William George Bishop,
Annie Bishop Hoxton St Saviour Hackney

Neither look that likely.
Did your William ever use any middle names?

OK,
He is a horsekeeper groom on 1901 census, at St Thomas Place.
Sorry, added to my post above - what was his father's profession on the marriage certificate?
Also, did they all stay in this country?
Thanks
