Mary, I have been told that it will cost quite a bit to search the electoral rolls unless I go to the library in Bury { I live in Wales now so going to Bury is not possible at the moment }
Does anyone know of a good site for searching the electrol rolls that will not cost me too much please ? regards Kath

You are all wonderful. I had not realised the death for Ethel Terry had been mis-transcribed I must have been lucky when I found the death ref in finding the correct one. Just for interest she died of TB at 48 Woodhill street
PAM William Terry died in 1969 he did not have a middle name so it is not the one you found. MARY the Jacksons lived in Bury as far back as I can find so no connections with Norfolk regards kath

Could you try electoral records for Samuel and Susannah Birks, either side of the war years at 18,Pearson Street.
Maybe that would give a clue to Maggie

Deaths Dec 1912 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Terry Ethel 22 Bury 8c 538
The numbers are the same but the year is 1912. Somewhere along the line the year has been mistranscribed as 1914. Just checked the original image on Free BMD and it is 1912. Went to Ancestry and the original image is not available so maybe someone has reported the error.

1911 18,Pearson Street. Edgar Greenhaulgh 1885 heywood Elizabeth 1885 Heywood Eric Jackson Greenhaulgh 1909 Heywood
Can't seem to find Ethels death in 1912.
Elizabeth Jackson born 1885 married Edgar.
I have looked for connection to your jackson's but at the moment it seems her ancestors were from norfolk, and Ethel's were Bury/Haslenden. I.E David Jackson 1824 and Ann married 1847?? had David 1864 married Anne and had Ethel .

Hi Kath,
Sorry, it is from the 1911 census not 1901 via FMP He is on the ship HMS Monmouth with the China squadron in Columbo. Google HMS Monmouth for more info.

Hi Everyone, First Ethel died on 09/11/1912,I have her death certificate I cannot find out much info on William Terry's navlal career. The only thing I have is from his marriage certificates On the one to Ethel Jackson in 1909 it says he is in the naval barracks at portsmouth and on the one to Annie Wilkinson in 1919 it says he is a stoker on a steam ship for the royal navy Maddie has the correct John Terry details as does Maureeninny
K I cannot find a marriage for John and on the POW record it says sister miss Maggie Terry ditto. Above her name is the address 18 pearson street so I assume the ditto means that she lived there too.
Hope the above has helped. Really do appreciate everyone helping regards Kath PS Maddie I do not know the Terry births that you have found but William Terry had three brothers ,john george and harry, who could have married I have not traced their marriages.

Hi Everyone ETHEL JACKSON was born in 1890 and as far as I know there was no Maggie Jackson in her immediate family.
I did wonder if the John Terry whose pow record I have is the incorrect one but his service number is on it and that is correct.
I have been told that the records were all in Japanese and the military translated them into english but I would think a name would be in english
This is so frustrating , I keep thinking that I could have relatives out there that i know nothing about. Why my mother never mentioned having another brother I will never know .Just do not know how I am going to sort this out ! thanks for your thoughts any help gratefully appreciated kath
